In Honor of

Robert Henry Hazel

Dr. Robert Henry Hazel Jr. DC, affectionally known as “Doc Hazel,” 81 of Spring Lake, NJ passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Born at the same hospital, Robert was a lifelong resident of Spring Lake. He served as a medic in the US Army stationed in France from 1966-1967. He was a graduate of Boston University and Logan College, Chicago, IL where he earned his Doctorate in Chiropractic Sports Medicine. He was a 2 nd generation chiropractor serving the Spring Lake area and surrounding communities up until the past few months. Robert was a member of the New Jersey Board of Chiropractors, he composed and published a scientific journal on sports fitness, was an adjunct professor of sports fitness and was the chiropractor for the US Olympic Teams. Robert was an avid runner, completing over 16 marathons and was one of the founding members of the Spring Lake 5K. He had an adventurous spirit and loved family time and to travel, fish, golf and spread good vibes to everyone he encountered. In addition to his service to the community he was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Manasquan, where he served as a deacon, an Elder, member of the choir and Director of the Men’s Fellowship Choir. He served as Director of the Manasquan Food Pantry for many years, especially helping his community during Hurricane Sandy.

He was known for his positive energy, big smile which lit up a room and his endless sense of humor. He was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all. He was a devoted grandfather who never missed a game or event for his grandchildren. Nothing brought him more joy than his family.

Robert was predeceased by his parents, Robert Henry Hazel and Grace Hazel. Surviving are his devoted wife of 55 years Jo-Ann Hazel, their twin sons, Robert Henry Hazel III, Winston Bradford Hazel and his wife Christy, two precious grandchildren, Olivia and Luke, and countless friends and family throughout the community.
